WEBNICHOLLS, Ga. (WALB) -A Coffee County man was arrested after police say he falsely reported a crime.
According to Douglas Now, on Nov. 15 at 2:30 a.m., 28-year-old Quantavious Hillman was arrested and charged after he allegedly falsely reported a crime. Officials from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office say an officer responded to a Galberry Avenue address regarding a trespassing call. Hillman called and stated that someone “unwanted” was in the home.
Upon arriving at the residence, officials say that the female victim who was at the location was actually Hillman’s girlfriend, and he suspected another male was at the home, which is why he made the call. According to the report, at the time of the call, Hillman was in Ashburn.
Douglas Now says the victim told officials that Hillman had been harassing her by calling and texting her multiple times. Officers requested that she reach out to Hillman, and when she did, he ultimately admitted that he made the call because “she had another person there”. According to the report, Hillman also threatened to burn a blanket that the victim owned.
The victim did not press charges against Hillman; however, the officer who responded to the incident issued a warrant for Hillman on a charge of false report of a crime.
Hillman was booked into the Coffee County jail on false report of crime charges and was later released on bond.
WALB has reached out to officials and is awaiting additional information.
