ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — Albany police checked the scene of a weekend shooting again on Monday, June 8, looking for anything that could help them identify a suspect.

When officers responded to the 200 block of Barton Avenue Sunday night around 8 p.m., they reportedly found two people suffering from gunshot wounds.

Authorities said the victims, a 58-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man, were taken to the hospital for treatment. Officials said both remain in stable condition.

Investigators are still trying to determine exactly what led to the shooting and who’s responsible. Albany Police Chief Michael Persley said investigators are seeking information about a possible suspect.

“We are looking for any additional information, possible male, dark clothing and just came out of nowhere and started shooting at the two victims,” Persley said.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the shooting or the suspect to contact the Albany Police Department at (229) 431-2100.
