COOK COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — Both north and southbound lanes of Interstate 75 in Cook County are experiencing delays Friday, May 22, due to a crash, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT).
The delays stemmed from a “major traffic incident with fire,” officials said. The incident was reportedly past Old Quitman Road near exit 37 at about 6 p.m.
GDOT said first responders are working to get traffic flowing quickly and safely. In an update at 7:17 p.m., officials said the roadway is expected to be cleared by 7:54 p.m.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area if possible.
