COOK COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Multiple law enforcement agencies responded after a Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Game Warden received a trail camera image showing unusual activity at the Sparks Cut-Off Wildlife Management Area (WMA) on Monday, Nov. 10.

According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), the photo appeared to show an unidentified person walking through a dry creek bed without clothes. Due to the poor image quality, officers could not determine any identifying features. The Game Warden requested assistance from the CCSO, which initiated a large-scale search of the area.

Six K-9 units from Cook and Lowndes County sheriff’s offices, DNR, and Georgia State Patrol were deployed, along with two State Patrol helicopters equipped with infrared cameras. Officers also canvassed nearby neighborhoods, but no one matching the description was located.

During the search, the Lenox Police Department was involved in a separate vehicle pursuit that ended in a crash near the WMA. Two suspects fled on foot, with one being captured by Lenox Police and the other by deputies from Cook and Lowndes counties.

Authorities say no evidence or additional clues about the unknown individual were found, and the search of the WMA has since been discontinued.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office is currently closed in observance of the Veterans Day holiday and could not provide further comment at this time.
