THE VILLAGES, Fla. (TND) — An alleged shoplifting ring involving young people could be out of business.

Two brothers and a friend “have been committing multiple thefts” from Walmart stores in Florida, their arrest reports say, and the father of those brothers is referred to as a co-defendant.

One of the latest incidents before their arrests took place Friday afternoon, May 31.

A manager “checking video surveillance” for sheriff’s deputies “identified” the father, along with “Brianna Biggs, Chance Thomas due to multiple encounters with them and receiving BOLOs [‘be on the lookouts’] from other stores with the subjects’ pedigree information; however, did not know [Chase Thomas’] identity.”

Separate arrest reports described what happened next.

Biggs “goes to the cosmetics department where she selects multiple travel-size body wash products, and then goes to home goods and gets a towel. The defendant then exits the store” She reportedly got away with $10.62 worth of goods that day.
Chance Thomas “selects multiple items from the automotive department and takes them to the sporting goods aisle. The defendant emerges from the sporting goods aisle carrying multiple Walmart plastic bags and items he selected from the automotive aisle. The defendant then walks out of the store” with items worth $141.90.

Chase Thomas and his co-defendant father “go to the toy aisle. Both the defendant and co-defendant each select a ‘Lego’ set. The defendant exits the store, bypassing all points of sale, with the unpaid ‘Lego’ set he selected.

“Co-defendant [father] placed the ‘Lego’ set he selected in the home goods department, where the defendant [Chase] re-enters the store and grabs it. The defendant then takes the ‘Lego’ set back by co-defendant [father] and exits the store,” reportedly taking $180 worth of merchandise.

The father’s name is included in the arrest reports, and he’s mentioned as a “co-defendant,” but The National Desk could not find a case against him, or a booking photo.

The arrest reports continued by saying a few days later, on June 3, the Walmart manager “called to report another theft committed by” Biggs and the Thomas brothers.

“The subjects fled the scene in a gold Chevrolet SUV” that was registered to Chance Thomas, and pulled over for “an investigative traffic stop,” the arrest reports say.

Each was read their rights “and agreed to answer questions.”

Biggs’ arrest report said she “confessed to stealing from Walmart on May 26th, May 31st, and June 3rd. The defendant stated she took the hygiene products, as she is going through hard times and cannot afford them.”
Chance Thomas’ report said he “confessed to stealing from Walmart on May 26th, May 31st, and June 3rd. The defendant stated the idea is his father, co-defendant [name], and he does not want to participate in the thefts.”
Chase Thomas “stated he did go to Walmart with all the aforementioned subjects on May 26th and May 31st, but he did not steal anything. The defendant stated he knows when his father, co-defendant [name], goes to Walmart, that they typically remove items without paying for them, to sell them for money. The defendant did confess to stealing on today's date, June 3rd.”

The suspects were arrested on June 3 but also face charges from the earlier incidents, which are detailed in separate arrest reports. None of them had previous theft convictions.

Biggs, 20, was charged with larceny-petit theft between $100 and $750; two counts of larceny-petit theft 2nd degree 1st offense; and possession of drug equipment. She had been detained on June 3 and “a wallet that contained the defendant’s identification [had] a blue straw that contained narcotic residue inside of it [and] presumptively field tested positive for methamphetamine,” another arrest report said.

Chance Thomas, 19, and Chase Thomas, 21, each face three counts of larceny-petit theft between $100 and $750.

They were each released from jail on bond within a few days.
