Description

(Gray News) – About 2.6 million Stanley products are being recalled for potential burn hazards.

According to the U.S. Consumer Protection Safety Commission, the recall involves all Stanley Switchback and Trigger Action stainless steel travel mugs sold in the United States.

The recall was announced Thursday.

The double-walled mugs were sold in a variety of colors including white, black and green, and were sold in multiple sizes, including 12 oz., 16 oz. and 20 oz. with a polypropylene lid.

The CPSC said the mug’s lid can shrink when exposed to heat, causing it to detach during use, posing a burn hazard.

Stanley has received 91 reports worldwide of the lids detaching during use, resulting in 38 burn injuries, with 11 people requiring medical attention.

The mugs were sold at major retailers including Amazon, Walmart, Target and Dick’s Sporting Goods from June 2016 through December 2024 between $20 and $50.

People who bought these travel mugs are urged to stop using them and contact Stanley to receive a free replacement.
