ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Two people have been arrested and charged with murder following a Friday afternoon shooting at the Shell gas station on Dawson Road in Albany.

Those individuals have been identified as Kameron Jackson, 23, and Aaron Santrez Edwards III, 24.

On Saturday, residents say they still feel safe in the Good Life City, but they do hope that individuals can learn better conflict resolution.

“It’s very disappointing, this is supposed to be a community where we can grow our families, children, and grow,” Tracey Taylor, Chairman for Dougherty County NACCP Chapter, said.

Many people said that they still feel safe in Albany and do not have any concerns relating to the shooting. One resident believes that a lot of these incidents are personal.

“It’s a safe neighborhood, and the city overall is safe. And I believe that sometimes people get into it a little more than they should and carry it out in the streets. But usually, it’s isolated to some people who have issues with each other,” Larry Worthey, an Albany resident, said.

According to the police report, the shooting occurred after an altercation between three males inside the gas station. One of the males went back to his vehicle before the other two males came outside of the store which led to shots being fired.

Taylor witnessed the shooting himself and says shootings are becoming more repetitive in the community.

“A tragedy and sad things about it, it’s a reoccurring thing right now. I just got finished eating with my family heading to the house and noticed all these police cars at the convenience store. Lo and behold, come to find out it’s another shooting,” Taylor said.

Keyvon Hardy, 23, succumbed to his injuries at Phoebe Putney and Jackson is in stable condition and was transported to the Dougherty County Jail. More charges are currently pending for the suspects, but they are in custody. Those who have information about the incident are encouraged to contact crime stoppers at 229-436-TIPS.
