WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. (KOMO) — Police are investigating after possible human remains were found inside a suitcase in a remote area of the Ross Lake National Recreation Area in Washington state.
A spokesperson with the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office told KOMO the remains were found by two fishermen on Oct. 12. The two men then notified the National Parks Service, according to deputies.
Detectives have interviewed both men, but the sheriff’s office is not releasing any further information about what condition the remains were in and how long the suitcase might have been in the area.
The Whatcom County Medical Examiner also declined to comment on whether the remains have been identified or if a cause of death has been determined, referring all inquiries on the investigation to the WCSO.
