FORT PIERCE, Fla. (TND) — Former President Donald Trump is expected to attend a hearing Monday for his classified documents case that will be held in a special secure facility.

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon presides over the hearing where attorneys will address issues about the classified materials.

The hearings will be held under seal and in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF), according to ABC News. The hearing is taking place in Fort Pierce, Florida.

A court filing reviewed by ABC News says Judge Cannon will hear arguments from attorneys for Trump and his two co-defendants on "defense theories of the case" and how "any classified information might be relevant or helpful to the defense,"

Special counsel Jack Smith will also present arguments to the judge without the presence of Trump's attorneys.

In November, Judge Cannon refused to delay the May 20, 2024 trial.

Trump's lawyers asked a judge in October to postpone his classified documents trial until after next year's presidential election, saying they have not received all the records they need to review to prepare his defense.

Trump is also scheduled for a trial on March 4, 2024, in Washington for allegedly plotting to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

The Florida case involves dozens of felony charges accusing Trump of illegally retaining classified documents at Mar-a-Lago. Trump has pleaded not guilty.

Trump's co-defendants in the case, former valet Walt Nauta and Mar-a-Lago property manager Carlos De Oliveira, pleaded not guilty to conspiring with the former president to obstruct the investigation.
