The victim was identified as 18-year-old Jameria Studivent. She is from Blackshear, the GBI said. WALB previously reported that the victim recently graduated from Pierce County High School.

This occurred on Miller Road in Douglas, according to the GBI. The GBI said that there was no indication of anything provoking the shooting.
The GBI also included in their report that Thomas and another person in the car Studivent was riding in knew each other.
Studivent was then taken to Coffee Regional Medical Center where she later died from her injuries, officials said.
Thomas turned himself into the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office after learning that deputies were looking for him, the GBI said. He is now in custody at the Coffee County Jail.
