ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Two people were shot on Nov. 16 in an altercation at a Northwest Albany apartment complex.

The Albany Police Department (APD) said they responded to 509 North Apartments on Westover Boulevard at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday night. There, they found two people with gunshot wounds — a 21-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man.

Their injuries are reported to be non–life-threatening, according to APD. Officials said the woman was shot in the leg, and the man was shot in the abdomen.

Both victims were transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for treatment.

APD Chief Michael Persley cautioned residents against engaging in risky side hustles, saying they can carry “more risk than reward.”

“You know, if one person comes, that’s one person — you know, they have a concern, they have a care, even if it’s monetary,” Persley said. “So whenever we can pull off any kind of community event and get the feedback that we got from that, then that was a good event.”

At this time, APD reports the suspect is still at large.

While investigators were searching the apartment, they found marijuana, drugs and cash. APD said they believe this was an attempted robbery while distributing marijuana from the apartment complex.
