DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A Delray Beach man is under arrest for allegedly paying a teenage girl to fly to Florida for sex and to take her on a shopping spree.

The details are outlined in a federal criminal complaint, which resulted from an investigation by the FBI.

Not only did Ronald Frankel allegedly have sex with the teenage girl several times, but prosecutors say he also lavished her with gifts he bought for her at a mall in Boca Raton.

It’s a connection that started on Tinder.

Prosecutors say Ronald Frankel, 68, of Delray Beach, met a 17-year-old Iowa girl on the dating app who was reportedly looking for a sugar daddy.

This progressed to FaceTime video calls.

Frankel got her to do this while she was nude, multiple times a week, and he allegedly was paying her $200 to $300 each time and offering more money if she pleasured herself.

But that wasn't enough for him.

Prosecutors say in January, Frankel sent her $1,000 on Venmo for a plane ticket to Florida.

She told her mother, at Frankel's direction, that she would be going to Florida with friends.

So on January 31st, she flew from Des Moines to Ft. Lauderdale International Airport, where Frankel arranged for her to be picked up by a black Cadillac and brought to his home in a gated community near Delray Beach.

The criminal complaint reports they had sex multiple times.

One of which Frankel paid $3,000 for.

On February 1st, Frankel allegedly drove the girl in a Lamborghini to a nail salon and the mall in Boca Raton where prosecutors say they went to Gorjana where he bought her a diamond necklace and bracelet.

Other gifts he reportedly bought include a MacBook, AirPods, and clothing from Lululemon and Alo.

Then they went back to his home and had sex again.

The next day, he allegedly paid her $1,000 for riskier sexual behavior.

The criminal complaint says quote: "Frankel asked the Minor Victim multiple times if she had any friends she could introduce who Frankel could pay for sex."

Frankel then ordered a car to take her back to the airport and on February 2, she flew back to Des Moines.

We tried to reach Frankel by phone but got a recording that says: "We're sorry. You have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service."

We also tried to go to Frankel's home on Fleur De Lis Way in a gated neighborhood seeking comment, but we were not allowed past the guard gate.

If Frankel is convicted, he faces a possible maximum sentence of life in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
