MERIDIAN, Idaho (KBOI) — A 70-year-old man was charged after allegedly hitting a counter-protester with his vehicle outside a Tesla dealership in Idaho.
Around 30 protesters and an estimated 200 counter-protesters attended the rally Saturday, according to the Meridian Police Department.
A preliminary investigation determined that a 49-year-old man had just parked and exited his vehicle at the Idaho rally when Christopher Talbot allegedly "made an obscene gesture" toward him before hitting him with his car.
"Reports indicate the victim had been driving a truck with pro-Trump flags and had just parked and exited his vehicle when Talbot struck him with his car," police said.
Police said the victim drove himself to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and released for non-life-threatening injuries.
"The victim was able to record Talbot’s license plate, leading officers to his home in Meridian," officers said.
Talbot was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on one count of aggravated battery.
