TIFTON, Ga. (WALB) — The Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) chief of police has been placed on paid administrative leave.

According to ABAC’s website, Mike Tompkins was appointed the chief of police effective Nov. 10, 2025 and was sworn in Dec. 16, 2025.

Ryan Hogan, vice president of enrollment, marketing, and student affairs confirmed that Tompkins was placed on leave and “there is no additional information available at this time.”

In a previous release, ABAC says Tompkins has served ABAC for more than 17 years, also serving as assistant chief.
