Description
ATLANTA, Ga. (WBRC/Atlanta News First) — Heading to Tuscaloosa for Saturday’s game? Hurricane Isaias could bring severe weather and high winds before kickoff, so the University of Alabama is changing some gameday plans for the matchup against the Georgia Bulldogs. The game is still on as scheduled, but tailgating, parking and pregame events will look different.
With Isaias approaching, the university is watching the forecast and says operations could change again if conditions worsen. Before you leave, check official UA updates — and be prepared for possible delays.
Here’s what fans need to know:
Tailgating and campus access
- Tailgating will not be permitted on campus before noon Saturday. After noon, only uncovered tailgating will be allowed, weather permitting.
- No outdoor activities will be permitted on campus before noon, unless weather impacts force further delays.
- Tailgate drop-offs and setups are prohibited anywhere on campus Friday. Supplies placed on campus before noon Saturday will be removed and discarded.
- Corporate tailgating vendors, including Gameday Done Right, will not set up on the Quad.
- Fans may access the Quad and other campus gathering areas after noon, but access could be delayed until areas have been inspected and deemed safe.
- There will be no Saturday tailgate-supply drop-off for the Quad.
- Electrical and power service on the Quad will not be restored until the University determines it is safe.
- The University may change the schedule again if conditions require additional operational delays.
Parking and transportation
- Campus parking lots and shuttle services are scheduled to open at noon Saturday.
- Anyone who tries to park on campus before the lots open will be turned away.
- Shuttle service and buses will operate when parking lots open, unless sustained winds cause further delays.
- Parking-pass holders who bought through Clutch! will receive updates directly if plans change.
- Fans using off-campus parking should check with those parking operators for possible schedule changes.
Pregame events
The Walk of Champions is expected to take place about two hours before kickoff.
- All activities on and around the Quad are canceled.
- The announcement of the successful conclusion of the Rising Tide 2.0 capital campaign, scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday at Gorgas Library, is canceled.
- The Elephant Stomp is not currently planned.
- All Champions Lane activities are canceled.
College GameDay moves inside
ESPN’s College GameDay will be held inside Coleman Coliseum from 8 to 11 a.m. Fans can begin lining up at 5:15 a.m., and the north and east doors will open at 5:30 a.m. Overnight queuing and camping outside the coliseum are not allowed.
Only clear bags will be permitted, and they will be inspected upon entry. The field-goal kick will take place inside Coleman Coliseum. Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young was previously announced as the show’s guest picker.
