ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — The southbound lanes of Liberty Expressway (US-19) were briefly closed on Tuesday, Aug. 4, after an Albany Community Safety Officer’s vehicle was struck, according to the Albany Police Department (APD).

APD said Community Safety Officers (CSO) were helping clear debris from the 600 block of the expressway around 2 p.m. Two other vehicles reportedly crashed, and one of them hit the parked CSO vehicle.

Following the crash, two CSOs were parked on the expressway’s onramp, blocking traffic from the highway.

Officials said minor injuries were reported. No further details about the accident have been released.

Liberty Expressway has since reopened.
