ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — The Albany Police Department (APD) is searching for a man who reportedly shot another over $5 on Halloween.
According to a report from APD, officers responded to the shooting around 3:30 p.m. outside the CITGO gas station on 1817 N. Slappey Blvd.
When officers arrived, they found a 37-year-old man who was shot in his right hip being treated by EMS.
The victim told officers he was riding his bike when another man approached him and asked for $5, claiming the victim owed him from five to six months earlier.
He told the man that paying him the money was “not his priority.” That’s when the man pulled out a gun, shot the victim in the hip, and ran away, per the report.
Officers recovered surveillance video from the incident, and a store clerk identified the suspect as Tomarious Riley, last seen wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and white shoes and carrying a Jordan book bag.
APD says Riley has active warrants out for his arrest and a Be on the Lookout has been issued.
The 37-year-old man was taken to the Phoebe Putney Memorial for further treatment.
The incident remains under investigation.
