LEESBURG, Ga. (WALB) — Tractor Supply stores throughout Georgia hosted local animal shelters and rescues Saturday, Aug. 15, as part of the company’s “Animal Days” celebration.

The Leesburg location welcomed community members for giveaways, snacks, activities, pet adoptions and pet food donations. The events spotlight animals and the people who care for them.

Local shelters take part

Participating organizations at the Leesburg store included Lee County Animal Shelter, Albany Humane Society and Albany Pitbull Rescue.

“It has really developed into something magnificent,” said Elizabeth Hall Barksdale, public relations representative for Tractor Supply. “All the shelters are doing an incredible job, each and every one of them. They are making such a positive difference in so many lives. They’re saving lives.”

Nationwide initiative and grants

The company-wide initiative runs through Aug. 23 at stores across the country.

As part of the event, Tractor Supply and the Miranda Lambert Muttnation Foundation are giving $255,000 to 51 shelters nationwide.
