BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WCTV) - The Bainbridge High School Band is heading to New York City this weekend for its 19th national appearance and its first opportunity to march in the St. Patrick’s Day parade in New York.

The band is scheduled to perform in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Tuesday.

Along the way, students are making several stops to take in historic sites and experiences before arriving in New York. The group traveled through Philadelphia, where students visited Independence Hall and saw the Liberty Bell.

The band also stopped in New Jersey for a riverboat dinner cruise before continuing the trip north.

Students said they were excited about the chance to travel and experience the trip together.

“This will be my last trip with the band and the thing I’m most excited about is just the experience of going,” said Cameron Whigham, a senior band member.

“One day I want to be able to live in New York, so it’s exciting to preview what my future might look like, especially with my friends. I think the friends you make in high school are really important, so I’m glad to have a memory like this that I’ll be able to remember forever.”

While in the city, students are also expected to explore Times Square and attend a Broadway show.

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is scheduled to begin Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. in New York City.
