CAIRO, Ga. (WALB) - Cairo High School is informing families and the community that lockdown notifications sent Tuesday were the result of a false alarm.

In a post shared on Facebook, the school said there is no threat to Cairo High School.

School officials apologized for any inconvenience the notifications may have caused and thanked students, families and the community for their understanding and continued support.

The school did not provide additional details about what prompted the lockdown notifications.
