LEESBURG, Ga. (WALB) - Victory of Albany held its Sunday service at Life Church in Leesburg after storm and fire damage forced the congregation out of its normal campus.

Pastor Tyler Barrett said the church had already been dealing with storm damage from June before more recent damage from a storm and fire made it necessary to relocate the service.

“So it was a little shocking for us to be going through the same thing again. But ultimately the church, we’re very strong. We’re strong people. We got an amazing church, we’re going to rebuild, and we’re going to see the facilities restored, and we’re going to get through this together as a church,” Barrett said.

Pastor Matthew Schluckebier of Life Church said he was grateful his congregation was in a position to offer support.

“It’s a great blessing to be able to help Victory Assembly because at the end of the day, it’s not about Life Church, but it’s about the kingdom of God. It’s not about Victory Assembly. It’s about the kingdom of God and all of us coming together and worshiping together,” Schluckebier said.

Barrett said he was proud of his congregation for continuing to gather despite the setbacks.

“You know, we’re not going to allow these temporary inconveniences to stop us. We’re strong people. But I’m telling you, to see the people that came out today when it was out of our norm was absolutely amazing. And it does this pastor’s heart good,” Barrett said.

Barrett said there is no timeline for when Victory of Albany’s normal campus will reopen. The church plans to send out regular updates until services can resume at its regular location.
