LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) is investigating an aggravated assault involving a gun after deputies responded to a reported shooting Monday night.
According to a field case report obtained by WALB, Deputy Nickolas Jennings responded to the 4900 block of White Water Road around 9:46 p.m. on April 7.
The incident has been classified as aggravated assault with a gun, and investigators say the suspect remains unknown at this time.
The victim has been identified as 49-year-old Anetra R. Riley of Valdosta.
Authorities say the suspect was reportedly driving a red 2017 Nissan Altima with Georgia tag SDS2484. The report lists the vehicle’s VIN as 1N4AL3AP3HC137829.
Investigators also documented two victim vehicles involved in the incident, including a gray 2022 Honda Accord and a black 2011 Dodge Ram 3500.
The sheriff’s office noted the case is not being investigated as family violence.
WALB has also learned that Riley is a City of Valdosta employee as the Neighborhood Development and Community Protection Manager. We reached out for comment--but the city declined to say anything.
