DOUGLAS, Ga. (WALB) — A Coffee County family says they lost nearly everything after floodwaters overtook their home during recent heavy rainfall.
Alexis and Galen Griffis, who live off Sand Hill Church Road in Douglas, shared photos and video showing floodwaters surrounding their property and standing water throughout their home. The family says the flooding was so severe that they were forced to leave and were only able to save a small amount of clothing before the water caused extensive damage.

The couple has an 18-month-old child and is expecting a baby girl in November. According to the family, nearly all of their belongings were lost in the flooding, leaving them to start over as they begin the long recovery process.
They described the situation as a nightmare, saying the family came home to find their house inundated with water and had to grab what they could before leaving everything else behind.
They took to social media and the posts have sparked an outpouring of support from community members, many offering prayers and assistance as the family works to rebuild.
Those wishing to help the Griffis family can send donations through Cash App at $alexisrdavis or $galengriffis.
