COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A man was arrested Tuesday, June 24 and charged with disorderly conduct after he allegedly pointed a weapon believed to be a firearm at a work crew, according to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).
CCSO said that the man, John Troupe, admitted to yelling and cursing at the crew but denied pointing a firearm at them.
Several individuals at the scene told the sheriff’s office that a man approached them in a vehicle, yelling and cursing at them. Some witnesses said that the man left his vehicle and later went back to it, taking an object “believed to be a firearm” out of the vehicle, CCSO said.
57-year-old Troupe told deputies that he displayed a set of brass knuckles to the group. CCSO said Troupe told them he felt threatened because he was outnumbered.
The crew was working at a residence on Tara Road in Coffee County.
After further investigation, CCSO said that Troupe was arrested, charged and transported to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office without further incident.
