Description
COLQUITT COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office is alerting the public about a scam involving calls to local businesses claiming to solicit donations for the Sheriff’s Foundation.
According to the department, they have received reports of an unknown individual cold calling businesses, falsely claiming to represent the foundation and requesting donations.
The Sheriff’s Office clarified that when they speak with businesses or individuals about the Sheriff’s Foundation or the LESS Crime Act, they will do so in person, not over the phone.
They are urging the public to remain cautious and report any suspicious calls to authorities.
