VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) — Southwest Georgia is seeing dangerous summer temperatures this week. The Lowndes Associated Ministries to People, Inc. (LAMP) made a Facebook post Monday, June 29, sharing where people can go if in need of a cool place to stay.

LAMP’s Day Center is open this week as a cooling center for residents needing to get out of the heat.

The center will be open Monday, June 29, through Friday, July 3, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. LAMP’s Day Center is located at 714 Charlton Street.

LAMP is also currently taking donations of bottled water to distribute to residents in the community. Donations can be dropped off at the Day Center.
