CORDELE, Ga. (WALB) — A man already wanted on aggravated assault charges is back in custody after an armed robbery near West 16th Avenue prompted a brief police response Wednesday, July, 1.
According to the Cordele Police Department, a resident reported an armed robbery in the area. Officers gathered a description of the suspect and the vehicle involved and shared that information with other responding officers.
A Crisp County Sheriff’s deputy located the suspect’s vehicle in the 700 block of West 27th Avenue and observed the suspect enter a nearby residence. The suspect then walked out of the residence and surrendered peacefully, police said.
The suspect was already wanted on aggravated assault charges and is now charged with armed robbery. Additional charges are pending, police said.
Following the suspect’s arrest, officers recovered three firearms. One of the firearms had been reported stolen.
