ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — A 23-year-old man is dead following a late-Tuesday-night crash on Pine Avenue in Albany, Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler confirmed Wednesday, Sept. 9 morning.

Fowler confirmed he was called to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital around 11 p.m. Tuesday, where he pronounced Brett Lane Sims dead.

Witnesses at the scene told officials that Sims’ vehicle struck a pole before crashing into a building on Pine Avenue.

Local authorities are currently waiting on the official incident report to confirm the exact sequence of events and the cause of the crash.
