DOUGHERTY COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — Sheriff Terron Hayes and the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office are preparing to bring holiday joy to local children through their annual Christmas outreach event.

Each year, the Sheriff’s Office selects several children to take part in a special day designed to create lasting memories for them and their families. The event is made possible through funds raised at a fall golf tournament, along with support from private donors.

The celebration is set for Monday and will begin with lunch at Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse. Afterward, the children will head to Target, where each child will receive $150 to shop for gifts.

Sheriff Hayes says the goal of the event is to give back to the community and ensure local children experience the joy of the holiday season.
