THOMAS COUNTY, Ga. (WCTV) - A man is facing charges, including vehicular homicide, in connection to a hit-and-run that killed a Thomas County man a week ago.
Georgia State Patrol confirmed Monday morning that 34-year-old Kristopher McLeod was found to be the driver of the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run that occurred Sunday, Jan. 25, killing 28-year-old Tyrik Jackson.

McLeod faces charges of first-degree vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident, the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office’s website revealed.
The new information from GSP comes after the incident transpired just before 1:30 a.m. The state agency says a trooper was requested for a pedestrian fatality crash on Hall Road, near Lawrence Drive.
However, once the trooper arrived, he was told that Thomas County deputies were responding to an unrelated call when they discovered Jackson lying in the roadway, according to GSP.

Deputies began to give CPR, but once EMS arrived, they pronounced the victim dead.
“The deputies advised the vehicle that hit the subject left the scene of the accident prior to law enforcement arrival,” GSP wrote in a press release Monday morning. Furthermore, GSP said “there was no evidence from the vehicle and there were no cameras located anywhere in the area.”
As a result, the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team was called to assist with the investigation.
Jackson’s family remembered him as being joyful, funny and someone who always made people smile.
