ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Georgia’s Own Credit Union partnered with Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful to host a community cleanup along Westover Boulevard on Earth Day, April 22.

Volunteers spent part of their day picking up trash and working together to make a visible difference.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, litter can pollute waterways, harm wildlife, and take years to break down, depending on the material.

“Well, Earth Day is just one great reason to get involved in your community and make an impact,” said Brianne Heap of Georgia’s Own Credit Union. “So it is a great way that we can clean up, beautify, and pick up litter and make a real impact in the communities that we serve.”

Organizers said even small actions can have a big impact when the community comes together. They said it’s never too late to get involved and help keep the community clean, not just on Earth Day, but year-round.
