VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - The Valdosta Fire Department (VFD) responded to a residential structure fire Monday morning in the 500 block of Hudson Street, displacing three adults.
Officials say crews were dispatched at around 8:09 a.m. The first fire unit arrived on scene within four minutes and observed light smoke coming from the roof of the residence.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, preventing further damage to the home. The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical issue, according to the VFD.
No injuries were reported. Three adults were displaced as a result of the fire and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Fire officials remind residents to regularly inspect electrical systems and use caution with appliances and extension cords to help prevent house fires.
