ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Fireworks will light up the Georgia skies this weekend to celebrate the Fourth of July.

There are a number of laws and regulations to know before you light the fuse.

When can you set off fireworks in Georgia?

In Georgia, fireworks can be set off anytime between 10 a.m. and 11:59 p.m., including on Independence Day and the day before.

There may be stricter local government regulations, though, so it’s important to check local noise and fireworks ordinances.

New Year’s Eve fireworks celebrations can last until 1 a.m.

What kind of fireworks can you buy in Georgia?

There are several kinds of fireworks you can buy in Georgia.

They include:

  • Roman candles
  • Blank cartridges
  • Torpedoes
  • Bombs
  • Sparklers

How old do you have to be to buy fireworks in Georgia?

To buy fireworks in Georgia, you have to be at least 18.

Where can you not set off fireworks?

It is illegal to set off fireworks on city properties, like gas stations, hospitals and nursing homes. Fireworks are prohibited in parks and cannot be set off on public roads.
