DOUGLAS, Ga. (WALB) – A fire that broke out Tuesday night at the Diamond Builders modular plant on Thompson Drive has been extinguished, and the facility reopened for business Wednesday morning.

Douglas Now reports, the blaze began around 9 p.m. in the foam room at the back of the plant.

Sprinklers activated after smoke detectors went off, containing the fire until Douglas firefighters arrived. Quick response from fire crews prevented major damage.

The building sustained smoke damage and some standing water from firefighting efforts.

Douglas Fire Chief Casey Wright said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

WALB has reached out to officials for additional information.
