ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Funeral arrangements for former Albany Mayor, James Varner Davis, have been announced.

Davis died on Sept. 29, 2025, at the age of 107 years old.

In 1941, Davis moved to Albany, where he practiced law for many years, served as the mayor, and served as the city attorney.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Davis will be held in the Chapel at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Home beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. in the Chapel until the service begins.

The funeral home is located at 1503 Dawson Road in Albany.
