ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - An east Georgia high school teacher from metro Atlanta was arrested after he allegedly threatened to shoot students and co-workers, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
Mason Garrett, a teacher at Warren County High School in Warrenton – about 45 minutes west of Augusta – was charged with one felony count of terroristic threats and acts after he allegedly “made verbal threats” to shoot staff and students at the school, the GBI said.
Garrett, 22, of Newton County, was booked into the McDuffie County Jail on April 29. He’s since been released on bond.

The GBI said it began investigating Garrett on April 28, when a school resource officer with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office asked it to look into “a potential incident involving terroristic threats and acts” allegedly made by Garrett at the school four days before.
The investigation is ongoing. The GBI asks anyone with information to call its regional investigative office in Thomson at 706-595-2575.
