DOUGLAS, Ga. (WALB) - On Tuesday, May 20, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced Jon Worrell, 58, has been arrested and charged with Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, and Aggravated Battery in the 2006 murder of his wife, 39-year-old Doris Worrell.
Jon was living in Missouri when he was taken into custody earlier this week. He is currently awaiting an extradition hearing.

Doris was shot and killed inside the couple’s Douglas business, Jon’s Sports Park, according to the GBI. The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to assist in their investigation.

According to a press release, the GBI, Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, and Waycross Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office will hold a news conference on Friday, May 23, at 10:30 a.m. at the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office. WALB plans to attend and will bring you any investigative updates.
