MACON, Ga. (WALB) - On Dec. 7-9, around 1,730 Georgia farmers met on Jekyll Island for the 88th Annual Georgia Farm Bureau (GFB) Convention. Over the three days of the convention, there was a trade show, awards presentations and educational sessions that briefed farmers on policy and production issues that affect Georgia’s major commodities.

The theme for this year’s convention was “Rise and Thrive,” emphasizing how the organization and Georgia’s agricultural community have worked together to help Georgia Farmers after they were hit by Hurricane Helene last year.

Below is a list of GFB members who addressed convention delegates:

• President Tom McCall - delivered his annual address
• Chief Administrative Officer Jeffrey Harvey - gave an organizational update
• Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tyler Harper - addressed convention delegates during the general session on Dec. 8.

• Georgia House Speaker Jon Burns - addressed convention delegates during the general session on Dec. 8.

• U.S. Navy Retired Commander Frank “Walleye” Weisser - addressed convention delegates during the general session on Dec. 8.
