ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A federal investigation launched by U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff (D-Georgia) found gaps in the testing of toys and other children’s products that could cause lead exposure.

According to Sen. Ossoff’s office, the investigation found that the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) failed to review and update testing requirements for lead.

The CPSC is supposed to review and update testing every five years.

The investigation specifically looked into testing for children’s toys and products targeted for ages 12 and under.

Sen. Ossoff made statement in regard to the investigation,

“The safety of children in Georgia and across the Nation is one of my highest priorities, and I will continue to push to ensure that lead and other toxins stay out of children’s products.”
