ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Georgia Tech has fired men’s head basketball coach Damon Stoudamire, the university announced Sunday.
Over three seasons, Stoudamire compiled a record of 42-55 for the Yellow Jackets, including a mark of 11–20 for the 2026 season, 17-17 in 2025 and 14-18 in 2024.
“Georgia Tech men’s basketball has a proud history and is an important part of our athletics department and community,” Vice President and Director of Athletics Ryan Alpert said in a statement. “We are committed to identifying an excellent basketball coach that will build a championship-level program, and fulfill our missions of academic excellence and preparing our student-athletes for life beyond basketball.”
Stoudamire joined Georgia Tech after a stint with the Boston Celtics, where he served as assistant coach.
Greg Gary, who joined Georgia Tech’s staff in 2024 as a quality control analyst, will serve as interim head coach, the school said. Gary was previously a head coach at Mercer University in Macon.
