Local reaction
Chatham County Commissioner Aaron “Adot” Whitely said there is a lot on the line in the governor’s race.
“We will have the chance to elect Keisha Lance Bottoms, who is a proven leader who will fight to expand Medicaid, lower costs, and invest in Georgian’s education. Now in doing so, we’re also going to reject ‘Slick Rick’ Jackson. The ultimate billionaire insider who has rigged the system against Georgians for far too long,” Whitely said.
A response from the Chatham County Republican Party is pending.
State Representative Anne Allen Westbrook said, “This year, we’ve got so much on the line, and it’s going to take all of us showing up at the ballot box to make our voices heard and keep Senator Jon Ossoff and the United States Senate, and win big down-ballot. We can do it if we turn out and make it happen.”
As Atlanta News First reported last week on Sept. 28, Charlie Bailey, chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia, said, “Treat it like a doctors appointment. Make an appointment, make a plan, get it on your calendar now.”
“We’ve got hundreds of thousands of voters that voted for Donald Trump in 2024 that have never voted in a midterm election,” said Josh McKoon, chair of the Georgia GOP. “At the Georgia Republican Party we are laser focused on getting those people off the couch and in the voting booth.”
