ATLANTA, Ga. (WALB) - Gov. Brian Kemp activated 120 Georgia National Guard members Saturday, Jan. 24 for deployment to Northeast Georgia.
Gov. Kemp said he made the decision after consulting with Major General Wilson and the state’s readiness team.
“These Guardsmen will be organized into strike teams and further strengthen our response in the hardest hit areas as we do everything possible to keep Georgians safe,” Kemp said.
The governor asked for prayers for the deployed Guard members.
Earlier this morning, Gov. Kemp spoke directly with state agency heads preparing Georgia for the winter storm.
