ATLANTA, Ga. (WALB) — Georgia Governor-elect Keisha Lance Bottoms is scheduled to meet with campaign volunteers Wednesday afternoon to celebrate their efforts.

Bottoms plans to visit the campaign’s field office in Atlanta at 4 p.m. to personally thank the organizers who powered her successful win.

Campaign officials credited the volunteer team with spending months knocking on doors, organizing local communities, and driving voter turnout across the state leading up to Tuesday’s win.

Bottoms made national history Tuesday, Nov. 3, by becoming the first Black woman elected governor in the United States, ending a 24-year Republican hold on Georgia’s executive office.
