ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — A WALB poll shows health, finances and family are viewers’ top priorities for 2026.

Research shows that most Americans who make resolutions will fail within weeks. WALB spoke with South Georgia locals who say they are determined to make a better version of themselves for 2026.

Fitness goals lead resolution list

Exercising more is a top resolution for Americans in 2026. Close to half of adults are committing to a fitness goal.

Kemble Teage said he started his fitness journey six months ago. His strategy involves group workouts for accountability.

“I’ve tried to do a workout by myself in the past, but there’s no accountability, there’s no one there to push you or encourage you along the way,” Teage said.

His peers will hold him accountable as he trains for a 2026 Hyrox competition.

Financial responsibility rounds out top goals

Saving money rounds out the top three resolution list. Local content creator Lincoln has a game plan to be more financially responsible in 2026.

“Finding a financial advisor to help me with the necessary responsibilities that I have and just making sure that I’m doing the right thing at all times and getting my business affairs in order, make sure my credit is good, making sure that I’m on time with everything and my payments,” Lincoln said.

Studies show only 9 percent keep their resolutions all year. Nearly a quarter quit before January ends.

Whether your New Year’s resolution is to stay in the gym or watch your wallet, try to hold yourself accountable. Then give yourself grace going into 2026. One slip-up is not failure. Happy New Year, South Georgia!
