AUGUSTA, Ga. — A CSRA resident didn’t win the much-reported $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot, but a local player did win six figures from the Georgia Lottery.

A Hephzibah player on Sept. 6 won $118,624 on $25 and $50 Frenzy Quick Win, purchased on the mobile app.

Powerball players in Missouri and Texas won the estimated $1.8 billion jackpot on Saturday, and four Georgia players won $100,000 and 12 won $50,000.

The $50,000 tickets were purchased at:

  • Pilot Travel Center, 319 Deer Head Cove Road, Rising Fawn
  • Circle K, 3008 Alabama Ave., Bremen
  • Dependable Stores, 1991 Marietta Blvd., Atlanta
  • DJ One Stop, 1850 Highway 85 South, Fayetteville
  • Citgo Quik Mart, 765 McFarland Parkway, Alpharetta
  • Murphy Express, 277 Norman Drive, Valdosta
  • Raceway, 1406 N. Saint Augustine Road, Valdosta
  • Publix, 905 Memorial Drive, Atlanta
  • Big E’s Country Store, 2100 Cordele Road, Albany
  • Graham Country Boy Mini Mart, 9834 Golden Isles W., Baxley
  • Georgia Lottery website by an Atlanta resident
  • Georgia Lottery mobile app by a Marietta resident

Four players selected the PowerPlay multiplier to double their winnings to $100,000. Those tickets were purchased at:

  • Georgia Lottery website by a Gainesville resident
  • Flash Foods, 110 West Spring St., Mount Vernon
  • Neighbors Market, 14656 Brown Bridge Road, Covington
  • Shell Food Mart, 6360 Spout Springs Road, Flowery Branch

The winning numbers were 11, 23, 44, 61, and 62, with the Powerball number being 17.

The winning ticket in Texas was sold at a gas station-convenience store in Fredericksburg, according to the Texas Lottery.

The prize, which was the second-largest U.S. lottery jackpot in history, followed 41 consecutive drawings in which no one matched all six numbers.

Countless other people didn’t get the jackpot but did win big in Saturday’s drawing.

The Georgia Lottery said 16 tickets sold in the Peach State ended up being worth thousands of dollars. Out of those, four tickets matched four of the five white numbers and the red PowerPlay number, winning $100,000.

We’ll find out soon whether any of those people are local.

And it’s definitely possible, since CSRA residents have had a round of luck lately:

  • On Wednesday, an Augusta player won $50,000 on a Powerball ticket bought at C-Mart, 3403 Mike Padgett Highway.
  • On Monday, a player in Aiken won $50,000 on a ticket bought at Circle K Store No. 5351 on East Pine Log Road.
  • On Saturday, two local players won $50,000 each on Powerball tickets sold at Food Mart, 5100 Wrightsboro Road in Grovetown, and the Pumping Station, 5142 Washington Road in Evans.
  • On Friday, an Augusta resident won $20,000 playing Keno on the Georgia Lottery mobile app.
  • A player won $50,000 a week ago on a Powerball ticket sold at Bowman Foodmart, 6204 Charleston Highway in Bowman, S.C.
  • An Evans player won $50,000 on Aug. 23 while playing Powerball, matching four of the five white ball numbers and the Powerball.
  • A couple of weeks ago, players in Tennille and Augusta won $10,000 each playing the “Fishing for Gold” Diggi game on the lottery app.
  • A few weeks ago, someone won $1 million in the Georgia Lottery’s 50X The Money game on a ticket sold at Quick Stop Hephzibah, 2504 Georgia Highway 88.
  • A Hephzibah resident won $10,000 playing Wild Star Multiplier on July 24.
  • An Evans player won $10,000 playing Merry Money Mania on July 23.
  • A Blythe resident won $10,000 playing Keno on the Georgia Lottery mobile app in late July.
  • A Grovetown resident won $10,000 playing the Million Dollar Countdown Diggi game on July 16.
  • A Georgia FIVE player won $10,000 on July 5 on a ticket purchased at Gas Pro, 4311 Wrightsboro Road in Grovetown.
  • An online Diggi game player in Hephzibah won $26,956 playing Elephant King Jackpots on July 3.
  • A player in Augusta won $90,000 playing Keno in June.

If a winner is chosen during the next drawing, they will have the option to receive annual payments culminating in $1.8 billion or a lump sum amount of $826.4 million. Both amounts considered are before taxes.

The odds of winning the full jackpot is 1 in 292.2 million.
