COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — A failed attempt to buy horses ended with two arrests and the animals being safely returned to their Coffee County owner.

Investigators with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) say two men tried to purchase horses from a Coffee County resident in early June. The two buyers did not reach a deal to buy the two horses.

CCSO investigators alleged 22-year-old Colby Cornelius Reed and 26-year-old Kadrian Jabbar Cobb came back to the Pridgen community north of Broxton and stole the Colt and Filly they originally tried to buy.

“If you come into Coffee County to steal from our citizens, understand that our investigators will use every available resource to identify you, track you down, and hold you accountable no matter where you go. This isn’t the county to come play games.”

The McIntosh and Liberty County Sheriff’s Offices helped CCSO investigators locate a white Chevy Silverado with a black horse trailer that was seen on the Pridgen property.

The horses were found in Townsend, Georgia. The animal’s owner identified them as the stolen horses.

Cobb and Reed are charged with two counts of Theft of Livestock and Criminal Trespass.

The Coffee County Sheriff, Fred Cole, thanked the McIntosh and Liberty County sheriff offices for their help in tracking the alleged horse thieves.
