Description

COLQUITT COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Firefighters quickly contained a late-night house fire in Colquitt County on Friday, preventing the flames from spreading further into the home.

According to the Colquitt County Fire Association, crews were dispatched at 11:11 p.m. on July 3 to a reported structure fire in the Mt. Olive Church Road area.

When the first fire unit arrived, firefighters found a single-story home with heavy flames coming from the rear of the structure.

Crews immediately launched an aggressive defensive attack, successfully containing the fire to the exterior of the home. Fire officials said there was little fire extension into the interior, allowing firefighters to protect the contents inside the structure.

The fire was quickly extinguished.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including Stations 12, 91, 61, 71, 11, and 31. The Colquitt County EMS and the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the response.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has not been released at this time.
