LEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — The Lee County Animal Shelter will be temporarily closed for 14 days due to an illness affecting animals, according to a statement they released on Facebook.

“This precautionary measure is being taken to protect the health and well-being of our animals and to help prevent the spread of illness.”

According to the statement, intake, adoptions, owner surrenders and public visits will be suspended.

“Shelter staff will continue to provide daily care and treatment to the animals.”
