DAMASCUS, Ga. (WALB) — A family said they lost their home to a fire Thursday, April 16, in Early County.
Jerome Brown, 66, called his son-in-law, Pete Pacheco, to tell him his home was on fire and he needed help, according to the family.

When Pacheco arrived, he and Brown tried to put out the fire with a water hose.
Brown’s daughter, Charjorie Brown, said she arrived shortly after and tried to pull her father away from the blaze but was unsuccessful.
Charjorie Brown said her father was trying to save his home and did not want to leave until the fire was contained.
She said law enforcement officials then arrested Brown for disorderly conduct when they arrived.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
The family has created a GoFundMe page to raise funds to help support Brown. You can send your donations here.
WALB has reached out to officials for the police report. Stay with us as we learn more.
