LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A Lowndes County teenager is facing involuntary manslaughter charges after an accidental shooting killed his friend on Nov. 7.
19-year-old LC Strawder was reportedly showing a friend a firearm when it accidentally discharged. Police say 21-year-old McArthur Howard was accidentally shot in the chest in the incident.
Valdosta Police (VPD) officers responded to reports of a gunshot victim in the 400 block of North Troup Street on Nov. 7. Officers rendered first aid until EMS services arrived. Howard later died at South Georgia Medical Center, according to VPD.
On Nov. 8, Strawder turned himself in to VPD. He now faces the felony charge of involuntary manslaughter and a misdemeanor charge of reckless conduct.
